The XL6009 DC-DC Adjustable Boost Module is a step-up (boost) power converter that increases an input voltage to a higher output voltage using a switching regulator based on the XL6009 IC. It’s widely used in electronics projects to power devices that need a higher voltage than the source provides.
Key Features
Input Voltage: 3V to 32V DC
Output Voltage: 5V to 35V DC (adjustable via potentiometer)
Output Current: Up to 4A (peak), recommended 2A for stable operation
Conversion Efficiency: Up to 94%
Switching Frequency: 400 kHz
Voltage Regulator IC: XL6009
Built-in Power MOSFET for high efficiency
No isolation (common ground between input and output)
Main Components
XL6009 IC: Core boost converter chip.
Inductor: Typically 33 µH, for energy storage.
Diode (Schottky): For fast switching.
Potentiometer: For adjusting output voltage.
Input/Output Capacitors: For filtering ripple.
How It Works
When powered, the XL6009 IC uses high-frequency switching to store energy in the inductor and then release it to the output at a higher voltage.
The output voltage is controlled by a feedback loop connected to the potentiometer.
By adjusting the potentiometer, you can set the desired output voltage.
Pin Configuration
IN+ → Positive Input Voltage
IN- → Negative (Ground)
OUT+ → Positive Output Voltage
OUT- → Negative (Ground)
Applications
Powering 12V devices from a 5V USB supply.
Driving LED strips or motors requiring higher voltage.
Battery-powered projects (e.g., 3.7V Li-ion to 12V).
DIY electronics and IoT systems.
Solar energy systems for boosting panel voltage.
Important Notes
The module only boosts voltage; it cannot step down.
Output voltage must always be higher than input voltage.
Heat Dissipation: For currents above 2A, a heat sink is recommended.
Reverse polarity protection is usually not included—add a diode for safety.
